Our Journey

Being blind themselves, the founders (Mr. Pankaj Darji and Mrs. Mukta Dagli) started this organization near Surendranagar. They began by adopting four blind girls and at present, are proud parents of 200 blind girls. The vision was to adopt the blind girls and sparkle their lives. They also looked after their shelter, clothes, food and education. The founders are also playing a parental role in marrying the blind girls to their blind counterparts leading to a prosperous life. The institution decided to cherish the lives of the blind girls and started different activities to learn through which they can be trained in different fields.

How is your money Spent?

All the money received from donations is spent on various day to day activities of the organization.

Activities

  • Education of Braille Script:-

To educate these blind girls, the program starts with basic teaching of Braille to read and write. They are also provided with the braille books to practice and learn more about the world.

  • Mobility Training :-

This training is imparted in such a way that blind girls can do entire cleaning of their house by themselves and also make all types of food items, feeding the members of the house and guests by making them independent. They are also trained to operate the household appliances such as domestic-mill, mixture, electric-plate, gas cylinder by themselves.

  • Computer Operating and Typing:-

Here language is not a barrier. With appropriate training given in both Hindi and English young girls are able to to operate the computer with the use of the latest voice assistance.

  • Teacher Training Center:-

In the state of Gujarat, there are only two centers giving training to the blinds in fields of teaching. Unfortunately, there is no training center offering services in the field of mentally retarded but for deaf-dumb, you will find one in the entire Saurashtra-Kutch at Bhavnagar. And that’s the reason why all the aspiring young men and women are unable to get admission here. As a result, the NGO began to prepare teachers for blind, deaf-dumb and mentally retarded children after obtaining the approval of R.C.I. Delhi.

  • Along with this, the institution also provides training through different activities such as Craftwork, Beautician course, Music and Dance, Electric Wiring, Cloth sewing and Embroidery as well as Physiotherapy.

  • Pragnachakshu Mahila Seva Kunj also looks after the social development of the blind girls. Hence, they also help by marrying them to other blind counterparts. So that they can rehabilitate well in the mainstream of social life. They also own a maternity home.

  • Looking at the difficult problems faced by old blind ladies, the NGO has put a thought to run a separate home for them. At present, five such women are taking shelter in this home. The institution has also provided them with housekeepers so that they do not face any problem.
