Our Journey

CHINMAY’ Resident Institute For Mentally Retarded was recognized in 1998 under the patronages of Bharat Lokhit Seva Samiti Trust. The organization was founded with the purpose of working towards the welfare of children, physically and mentally handicapped and underprivileged classes of the society. The organization helps these needy sectors with the philosophy of “Service to human is service to God”. In its effort to reach out to the unreached, under-privileged sectors; the organization felt that groups that are weaker like mentally and physically challenged people need more special attention and care. As a society we have just secluded them, at the most pitied with them but not actually reinforced them. It appeared that in our society very few projects are planned for mentally challenged. Hence with the undertaking of making the mentally challenged independent by all means and enhancing the value of their life, CHINMAY was inaugurated.

The organization has been setup to serve a variety of children’s and their different levels of retardation, irrespective of their religion and territorial backgrounds.

Bharat Lokhit Seva Samiti endeavors hard to accomplish the purpose in different ways ‐ finding Ashrams for human wellbeing, colleges and Universities for distributing of knowledge, running Ayurvedic and Homeopathic clinics and centers, Physiotherapy and music therapy centers and found residential schools and proper direction to mentally retarded. Quite a lot of activities are carried out for general social welfare, which includes conducting action oriented research, conducting seminars and workshops on developmental activities, adult education, training and education for mentally retarded and physically handicapped.

They aim to reach the highest standards of capacity, by providing a kind and positive atmosphere. Till now, they have crossed 20 years in dedicating itself to improving the quality of life of people. The institution strongly believes in a systematic, scientific and a cost-effective method controlled by a multi-disciplinary team, which are part of the BLSS family, and is drawn from different disciplines pertaining to rehabilitation physically or socially underprivileged.
